Dr. Sajjad Khan, DDS, MICOI

Dr. Sajjad Khan has been a trusted cornerstone of the Connecticut dental community since 1993. A clinician who balances a "master’s touch" with a passion for modern innovation, his career is defined by an unwavering lifelong pursuit of excellence.

Dr. Khan ranked in the top ten of his graduating class at the University of Dhaka before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He went on to complete a General Practice Residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, where he was appointed Chief Resident for his exceptional clinical leadership. Recognizing his talent, the hospital invited him to stay on as an Attending Physician to mentor incoming residents—a dedication to teaching and clinical leadership that he brings to his practice every day.


As the founder of Advantage Dental Group and the former Dental Director for the Community Health Center of New London, Dr. Khan has spent over three decades shaping the local dental landscape. He is an esteemed Master of the International College of Oral Implantologists (MICOI), having completed advanced implant training under world-renowned pioneers like Dr. Carl Misch. Today, he seamlessly integrates this mastery with state-of-the-art LASER and CAD/CAM digital dentistry, offering a comprehensive, holistic approach focused on treating the patient as a whole.

Dr. Ryeed Khan, DMD

East Lyme’s Own: Precision Dentistry with a Hometown Heart

Dr. Ryeed Khan is an East Lyme native who is proud to serve the community where he grew up. A "Double Husky," he completed both his undergraduate studies and his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Connecticut.

Following dental school, Dr. Khan completed an intensive General Practice Residency at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, where he managed complex medical and dental cases, performed hospital operating room procedures, and was honored as Resident of the Year. Today, he continues to give back to the profession as a part-time attending faculty member at Saint Francis, mentoring the next generation of dental residents.


Committed to the highest standard of clinical excellence, Dr. Khan is an officially credentialed Dawson Scholar—a distinction earned through extensive postgraduate training in comprehensive bite mechanics, occlusion, and TMJ therapy. Recognized by the Connecticut State Dental Association as a “Rising Star” in the dental community, he provides a full scope of procedures with a specialized focus on digital dentistry, same-day crowns, TMJ treatment, and cosmetic smile enhancements.


Outside of Advantage Dental Group, Dr. Khan loves to travel, experiment with new recipes in the kitchen, and give back to his local roots by coaching high school rowing at East Lyme High School.

Dr. Vanessa Vlaun, DMD

A Proud "Double Husky" Delivering Comprehensive, Patient-First Dentistry to Her Hometown.

Dr. Vanessa Vlaun grew up in Salem, Connecticut, and is a proud graduate of East Lyme High School. As a lifelong local resident, she is deeply grateful for the opportunity to care for the community that helped shape her.


She earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology with Honors from the University of Connecticut before earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the UConn School of Dental Medicine—making her a proud "Double Husky." Following dental school, she completed a General Practice Residency at Danbury Hospital, gaining advanced training in comprehensive, collaborative patient care for individuals with diverse medical and dental needs.



For Dr. Vlaun, the most rewarding part of her work is building lasting relationships with patients while providing compassionate, high-quality care close to home.

Outside the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors, whether hiking local trails or relaxing at the beach with a good book.

Dr. Khan is the first dentist that made me feel absolutely comfortable and explained everything step by step as he was going. I have had dental phobia since I was a kid and because of it my teeth have suffered and are in bad shape. Last week i had the worst pain ever due to a rotted and broken to the gum line molar so I knew I had to get it removed. If you are looking for the best dentist in the East Lyme Waterford area (or beyond), I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Michael Giuliano. I have never come across an md or dentist that is as knowledgeable and technically skilled as he is empathetic, kind, and reassuring. I was sold on him as a dentist after a cleaning, but, as fate would have it, his skills were put to a test for me a few months later when I needed a somewhat urgent root canal. He took the time, on several occasions, to patiently “talk me down” over the procedure and did just an amazing job on the tooth itself. It was no bigger a deal than most fillings I’ve had. It’s just a great feeling to know that your dentist has “got this”, cares about you, and that you have nothing to worry about ! As a perk, the dental hygienists and office staff are also wonderful.

Exceptional & Professional dental office. This was the BEST Dental visit experience ever. I only give honest reviews & have never reviewed a Dental Office. I'm 61 and will admit, like many have a fear of going to dentist. I'm working in area for 12 days & needed a few things fixed with a broken tooth & broken fillings. Mon. I called 8 dental offices. Advantage was the only one that could get me in right away Tues. or even answered the phone. They even texted back there was opening to get me in earlier in day to possibly complete all procedures. I texted back & took it. From minute I walked in, it was an all around great experience. Front desk person greeted me - hello u must be Rick - nice welcome. Got back quickly and Dr. GIULIANO (Dr. G) came in to see me right away. I have dentist friends in FL that I thought were good, & they are, but Dr. G is a step above. He explained, in understandable terms, what the problems are and exactly how he was going to fix them. They checked my Ins. and showed the exact cost to me & what my Ins. covered, upfront before any work was done. Dr. G talked as he worked on me & even the shot of novocaine did not hurt at all. Usually, the pinch & pain is one of worst parts of going to dentist - I did not feel any pain or pinch - of course once novocaine took effect, I really didn't feel a thing. Dr. G has a friendly, professional, confident, & calming personality. I felt so comfortable. Dr. G is an amazing Dentist. I'm going back Thurs. for a full cleaning. Dr. G even drove me back to work since I had to walk over from where I'm working. Y'all r so lucky to have this Dental office w Dr. Giuliano here. I am a very satisfied new patient & highly recommended.

If you find yourself as deathly afraid of dentists as I do, look no further. From the moment I called to inquire about an appointment I knew I found my place. Every single person within this practice made me feel welcome and comfortable. I had a large molar removed by Dr. Kahn yesterday and I didn’t even feel the pinch of the needle. He goes out of his way to explain what’s going on in your mouth and the available options. He also keeps you informed during the entire procedure. They currently don’t accept my insurance but that will not keep me away. Dr. Kahn is worth every penny, even if it’s coming out of my pocket. As someone who’s had a ton of work done on my mouth and a few disturbing experiences that left me extremely fearful, I truly feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon this practice. Dr. Kahn is a genuine and kind man and an incredible dentist.
